We had such an amazing first show in Birmingham last night! We have never met such amazing, supportive and kindhearted people. We were so overwhelmed by all of the wonderful people we met that night. It was a great way to kick of the tour!

Above is a shot of Andrew and Marlana with our new friends Harris, Ben, Julia and Darby! It was such a pleasure to meet you guys!

An enormous thank you goes out to the amazing first recipient of our drum cymbal necklace for the APCH charity! It honestly made our hearts so warm that you wanted to contribute to such an amazing cause. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Unfortunately… we got word this morning that John Paul, of The Civil Wars, had lost his voice and needed to cancel the next three shows. We were seriously bummed, but first and foremost we hope JP gets well soon!

So… we had to come up with plan B. With three shows canceled, that puts us on hiatus until Tuesday when we play with Grouplove and Belle Brigade in Nashville.

What to do in Birmingham? Fortunately, with the help of Twitter, we spent a great afternoon with some wonderful company. Big thanks to Carley and gang for reaching out to us today and showing us the ropes. We finally found a restaurant that was actually opened for business! ‘Urban Standard’ really hit the spot! After lunch, we rummaged through a unique antique store, roamed the vacant streets of industrial Birmingham, played soccer at Railroad Park and got our froyo on. Later in the evening, Carley managed to get us free tickets to see Shaq’s All Star Comedy Show (though to our dismay, Shaq was not in attendance), and afterwards we finally found civilization at a local bar/restaurant where we grabbed dinner! It was quite the day.

Downtown Birmingham, AL

We’ve never seen a town so desolate. However, any encounters we did have were always with the most gracious of people.

Thanks again to everyone we met in Birmingham. Your hospitality was unreal! Y’all were amazing and we can’t stop talking in southern accents.

We managed to get on a last minute show in Birmingham tomorrow (Sunday) at 2:00pm in Vulcan Park with our new label mates, Scars on 45! Come hang out with us again in Birmingham before we say goodbye! We would love to see you!

P.S. If y’all have any photos you have taken with/of us and would like to share, send them our way! We would love to see them.
