Last night we drove through an amazing evening lightning storm on our way up to Seattle. It was magical!
[Flash 10 is required to watch video]
We stopped in Central Point, Oregon and stayed at a Super 8, fully equipped with pool and jacuzzi. Adult hour was from 10-11, where they turn on the 3 story water slide.
…Yes, I said 3 story water slide. And yes, they turn it on during ‘adult hour’.
We took many a banana from the ‘breakfast starter bar’ this morning and made many a pit stops thanks to Marlana indulging herself in the complimentary coffee.
Made our second Subway stop, (we can guarantee we will be frequenting this establishment when the tour starts), and drove and drove and drove some more… all the while listening to NPR podcasts on the extinction of bananas and Julia Child. Not the extinction of Julia Child… You know what I mean.
Just a few minutes ago, we stopped yet again for marlana, who apparently has a bladder the size of a dime. She was excited to find that this Washington rest stop offered free coffee! She cant resist free coffee…
Two elderly people were sitting in what resembled a high school football game snack bar, (square concrete booth with sliding glass windows) serving the free coffee. *donations were gladly accepted
Father time generously offered Marlana cookies with her coffee, which she so obviously accepted! As we are walking away from the free coffee booth and back to the van, Marlana can’t hold in the laughter. She comes over only to reveal under a napkin, the moldiest cookie known to man. Robbie says, “is that a weed cookie?” It is completely beyond us how the sweet coffee man had absolutely no clue about the state of the cookies he was serving to the rest stop community of Washington. Needless to say, we didn’t leave a donation. Even worse, we didn’t inform them of the extremely expired treats. If we were on an episode of ‘what would you do’… we definitely failed.
Marlana says the coffee was completely acceptable however. We will update later if her stomach says otherwise.
Oh man, we only wish we snapped a photo of that completely obvious mold cookie to show you before Andrew tossed it in the bushes.
We are almost to bear creek! So excited to start recording this record!
P.S. Most/all blog entries are typically written by Marlana. FYI, writing in third person is weird! Also, writing a blog post on an iPhone takes forever! Also also, Robbie and Andrew have been improving a conversation in ridiculous accents the entire time I’ve been writing this. It’s been completely entertaining/hilarious yet so distracting. Ive been laughing so much that i’ve gotten to that point where you have to clear your throat every few seconds. Also also also, I’m so wired from that free rest stop coffee! It must be the energy boosting mold they mix in. This blog post has taken entirely too long. Talk soon,
